Embedded engineering tools built to work with AI.

esquaresoft publishes software for teams that design electronic boards and firmware: watch the microcontroller in real time, keep requirements and traceability in git, and let AI agents work on data they can actually read.

Solutions

Two tools, from the test bench to the specification

Each one solves a specific, everyday problem of an embedded team, and can be downloaded straight from this site.

eScope

Software oscilloscope for microcontrollers

Read variables straight from the microcontroller's RAM while it runs, and plot them in real time. No halting the program, no reaching for a hardware scope.

  • Serial, Bluetooth, TCP or SEGGER RTT through an SWD probe
  • C expressions resolved from the ELF through GDB
  • Measurements, FFT, computed channels, variable writes

Polenta

System engineering made easy

Requirements, tests, campaigns, reviews and traceability in a desktop tool. Every requirement is a readable YAML file: git is the source of truth, and AI gets access through an MCP server.

  • Coverage matrix, impact analysis, baselines
  • Reviews with an approval quorum on git branches
  • MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor, Codex…
Our approach

Embedded engineering in the age of AI

AI agents already write code, review specs and go through measurements. They need tools whose data is open and whose actions stay under the engineer's control.

Plain-text data

YAML, JSON, CSV: formats a human reviews in a diff and an agent reads without a proprietary connector.

Built on git

Branches, reviews, tags and history: the configuration management your team already uses, with no extra server.

Close to the hardware

Tools designed by electronics and firmware engineers, tested on STM32, Renesas RA and AVR.

The human signs off

The agent proposes, the engineer publishes. Polenta's MCP server never commits, and bulk imports start as a dry run.

Open code

Polenta is AGPL, eScope's firmware code is MIT: ship it in your products, commercial ones included.

Tools that fit together

A requirement in Polenta, a test that verifies it, an eScope measurement that proves it: the whole chain, from spec to bench.

Coming next

The next tools

The same principles, applied to embedded software verification.

In progress

Embedded unit testing

Write and run unit tests on firmware code, on PC as well as on target, with results fed into Polenta campaigns (JUnit XML) and tests generated with the help of AI.

In progress

Integration through PC simulation

Run the firmware on a PC with simulated peripherals to validate integration before the board exists, and watch the simulation with eScope as if it were a real target.
